RECIPE FOR A FRIENDSHIP
2 Jewish Mothers
2 daughters born within days of each other
tons of drama
many cups of SOSTY
pounds of rugelach
1 BIG TheVENT (make sure you have the 200 children kind)
12 homecoming dresses – on sale
hours of step class
2 husbands we adore
100 recipes that all start with “Carol Newman’s . . . . .”
thousands of memories to remember and make
Mix together the two Mothers and fold in the daughters and the husbands. Let this mixture simmer – it only gets better with time. Beat together the SOSTY and rugelach til you could make rugelach in your sleep. Toss in TheVENT and marinate the 200 children we entertained. Stir in homecoming dresses and reduce til you pay $14 at Lord and Taylor. Fry up the hours at the gym and watch the knees dissolve. Melt all Carol’s recipes together and pour over the mixture. Pour all this into a heart shaped pan, sprinkle with the memories and love. Bake for a lifetime and enjoy the fruits knowing you have a concoction that will last forever.
Happy baking Carol with Love and Best Wishes (and Dishes)
for your 60th birthday.

It’s time “Happy Birthday” is sung
For Carol is 60 years young.
It’s hard to believe it.
We just can’t conceive it.
She outshines the age group she’s among.
Maybe her youth-keeping tool
Is all of the time spent at school.
Being with teens
Gives her the means
To stay young and active & cool.
She wears many hats every day.
Is her schedule busy? I’ll say.
The list goes without end.
She does it all in a competent way.
She’s also Mom-Mom, sister & daughter.
Though she’s gray, she couldn’t look hotter.
So…simply stated
We’re glad we’re related.
Our family is happy we’ve got her.
Our wishes for you are sincere:
Happiness & good health, Carol dear.
We hope we can share
Simchot here & there
Smiling together year after year.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CAROL!
Love,
Beverly and Alan

Dear Mom Mom,
Happy 60th Birthday! I am so excited to celebrate with you. You are such a wonderful Mom Mom! Thank you so much for making me pretty clothes and the shopping cart liner; I know those were challenging projects. I had so much fun playing with you this summer and I wish you didn’t have to go back to work. We’ll still see each other, though!
I love you!
Love,
Maya
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
We love you.
Skidamarink a doo,
We love you.
We love you in the morning
And in the afternoon,
We love you in the evening
And underneath the moon;
Skidamarink a doo,
We love you!
Love,
Sara and Rachel
Thinking of your birthday reminds me of all of the special birthday parties that you made for me and for Rachel. A look through old picture albums reveals photos of a smiling pink Barbie cakes, a Come as You Are Party with friends in pajamas and bathing suits, a What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up party (entomologist costume on me, not a tallit), and my very favorite – my rainbow party. We tie-dyed paper towels, squished primary-colored Jello together in Ziploc baggies to make new colors, played with your home-made Play-Dough, and of course enjoyed a rainbow cake! Your creativity and desire to provide us and our friends with a memorable experience showed your love for us each and every birthday. I hope that on this birthday you feel in return all of the love and kindness that you bestow upon the people that you care for in your life.
Love,
Sara
